Chinese style mandarin dress (qipao), for Portfolio. Time permitting, it will be part of a series featuring the "traditional" (Modern adaption) dress of several Asian countries. I would like to continue the theme of one color and put them together as a rainbow, but unfortunately this is all time permitting. T-T

Edit: I'm thinking of fixing China's face, but as for now I'm using the vague excuse that it's actually ~Seraphania so she shouldn't be Asian.

HOMG CHINA. :D I love the dress, and you got the style really well...you can actually get a lot of dresses like that here, lol. Amazing job on the colors and the detail.

Strange how certain the journey
Time unfolds the petals
For our eyes to see
Strange how this journey's hurting
In ways we accept as part of fate's decree

Thanks! ^^
Yeah I agree, I actually chose those shoes because I wanted to practice feet in heels like that.

YES CHINA. Yey, thanks! C:
Really that's great, I guess I got the accuracy! Out of curiosity, is a dress like this considered formal wear? Or could people wear it semi-casually? Like to work or something?

This is definitely formal wear. Chinese people prefer Abercrombie and American Eagle to this, usually. Actually you don't see stuff like this much anymore...I have a few, and you'll see them at special occasions, but people don't walk around like that.

lol, American Eagle? That seems ironic.... especially since so many of my shirts are "asian" motifs/ styles.
Huh anyways that's a shame, they are so pretty. Hmmm, I suppose it would be the equivalent to walking around in a prom dress all the time- pretty but not practical.

Yeah, cultures are pretty intermixed here. You know how America's 'the melting pot?' Well, Shanghai had that long ago, and we've achieved what you guys want to do. Cultures sort of flow seamlessly here, from one to the other.

Cool, another melting pot on the other side of the world.
Do you all have a lot of culture mixing from just Asian cultures? or do you have influences from like Europe too?

Mucho European influenceo. A lot of the buildings on the Bund (that area where you drew the picture, with the Pearl Tower and the river) have a lot of very English buildings from the last century. There's also a lot of Jewish synagogues around, and some of the nicer parts of the downtown area look very French. But there's a lot of American stuff as well.
