Anatomy Tutorial- Collar Bone by JillLenaD Anatomy Tutorial- Collar Bone by JillLenaD
I would highly encourage you to NOT use my drawings for reference, they are just to show the concept.

If you can, get a hold of a proper anatomy book (I like Anatomy for the Artist myself), look in a mirror, or just find some stock reference.

I don't claim to be a medical illustrator. XD

Next will be hips I think..

[NOTE] I drew 6-7 ribs.. there should actually be .. ah 8-9 I think. I just meant 'ribs go here'. XD .. but yeah, the rib cage should end closer to halfway between the belly button and the bottom of the chest. NOT ALL UP IN THE CHEST AREA WHERE I DREW IT. .. I'll fix that eventually when I get time orz
Speaking of both, the lead singer of Skuter is wonderful reference for ribs and the collar bone [link]

You know, this made me realize that I seldom even draw (or shade) this feature of the body into my art. What was I thinking? ><

Great tutorial!

It's a nice feature to add! Some body types don't even allow you to see it though, so maybe that's what happened.

Thank you!

Thanks, this was really helpful! :D
I especially liked how you pointed out common mistakes. I actually started fixing that problem after realizing that it looked wrong, but looking back at some of my first submissions, I was definitely guilty of the second one! ^^; Now, I'll remember to make sure I've got it right

LOVE.
Yeah, I'm guilty of the second one. But that little bone drawing is going to be so helpful to me. Not just for the collarbone, but for the shoulders/arms as well. ♥

Oh no, well now you know! XD
Glad to be helpful! I'd suggest looking up an anatomy book if possible too, to reference from!

Thanks for making this! I'll link to this now, for my corrections since this is quite the common problem and I have to go over it often.

You're welcome! I'm glad it will be useful for you too! I've noticed it was something I had to keep repeating as well.. it must be a common beginner mistake.

Interesting- this might come in handy, since I have some certain troubles of defining the collar bone myself. Definitely a favourite.

I'll try to. XD
I have a little sticky note on my computer of things I have to keep repeating in my IC corrections so I'm hoping to do those at least so I don't have to keep repeating myself.

Thanks! I know have trouble with that! Yes, Do the hips next! Ooh, and don't forget to talk about the differences between guys and girls! And maybe afterwards, you could talk about how to draw breasts next (the "giant chest wrecking balls" thing is really annoying...)

Ah true, I'll have to remember to add a section for the difference between girls and guys hips. Thanks for the reminder!

Oooh I know the type you're talking about.. maybe I'll just make a tutorial on 'that's not as sexy as you think it is' and cover bowling ball chests and broken backs all at once.. >_>
